Down South

We had a great trip down South. The roads here are crazy. Addis is slo motion crazy, the highways are 60mph crazy, with occasional diversion onto rough gravel. Amazing scenery. Most amazing of all were our interactions with the people in the countryside. At times it gets crazy, with kids surrounding the car. They are trained to ask for money, pens, food, whatever. But they are sweet, engaging, and wonderful to talk to. Some speak some English, so you can ususally have a bit of convo. We rented mountain bikes and rode out into the fields behind our lodge. Everyone wants to wave! The kids like having their photo taken, and they rush up to see themselves on the LCD. They go nuts seeing themselves on video, and call it "TV."
