Sitting at home this Friday, trying to have a little down time after a crazy week working for the man. 2 weeks ago Brecher-Wrecker spent a good part of the day hooking up our sub panel, with me on standby with a wood board to push him away should he be electrocuted! So last weekend was time to start laying cable as they say. Shortly after this celebratory photo representing the first operating light, the dimmer switch to which it was wired went out with a bang. Minus $30. (Jana actually got the hardware to replace it! The things blonds can do.) Hmmm, must be wired wrong. Despite having no less than 3 wiring books on hand, none of them tackled the infamous 3-3way switches from one power source! A total of 2 j-boxes, 6 3 way switches, one inbound 3 wire, 3 outbound 4 wires, and 3 3 wires to the fixtures. That only means anything if you've done some wiring, but there you have it. Finally figured it out by watching a piece on You Tube on 3 way wiring! Yeah, I'm hip. So there it is, next day we had most of the recessed lights up and running, even got the first 3 outlet boxes hooked up too. Cut through a live wire again! Minus $17. Stupid mistake. Brand new pliers had replaced the last pair I fried. Jana downgraded me to a $6 pair as punishment.
